Rebels Sweep Mississippi State

This past weekend Ole Miss faced off against Mississippi State in a very physical series in Tupelo, MS. The in state rivalry did not take long to come out, as there were a total of 61 penalties in the two game series. In Thursday nights game both teams came out fast and hard hitting as the Rebels dominated the play but were only able to take a 1-0 lead by the end of the first period with a goal scored by Angelo Rosena. However, things opened up in the second period as the Rebels were able to beat MSU goalie Cory Judge 6 times including Sean Burgers first goal as a Rebel to make the score 7-0 going into the third. The Rebels finished off MSU in the last period, which was dominated by physical play and penalties with a final score of 8-1 Ole Miss. Friday nights game played out very similar to the first game of the series as the Rebels skated away with another 8-1 win over Mississippi State to complete the series sweep and improve to 9-2 on the season. Ole Miss continues conference play this weekend as they take on Arkansas at the Mid South Ice House in Olive Branch, MS on Friday and Saturday. |
